Hybrid measures are not new. In fact, NCQA has been using hybrid measures for quite some time as part of HEDIS reporting. There is renewed interest in this term now that CMS has finalized to replace the existing “claims only” Hospital-Wide 30-Day Readmission measure with the hybrid version of the measure in the IQR program and publicly report data by 2023.
